Wow what a week! Year 5 have been kept very busy this week with 4, yes 4, trips this week! For those of you who do not know, Plymouth School of Creative Arts were selected to be a part of the Widening Horizons Project ran by Millfields Inspired. This project involves year 5s going out into the world of work and learning about all the different careers there are. We have been to Exeter airport, Brittany Ferry, the National Marine Aquarium, amongst many others.
Here is a run down of our week!
On Monday, year 5 from Huw, Ben & Lottie’s basecamps visited Mayflower Marina. There the children learnt about the jobs within the marina, driftwood artistry and even had the opportunity to seek out treasure on the floor of the Tamar! The children has the opportunity to take control of a boat (steering and engine) and plot courses using sonar.
On Wednesday, 30 year 5s visited Foot Anstey, a law firm situated in Sutton Harbour. They had a great day acting as spies seeking out persons of interest, counting how many spires they can see from the building’s impressive roof terrace, calculating how much post costs in the post room and enjoying a lovely corporate lunch!
On Thursday, we were lucky enough to be invited to the National Marine Aquarium to celebrate World Oceans Day. We took 12 year 5s to the aquarium for the day and where they were able to get involved in activities centred around the sea.
