The Rotary Clubs of Plymouth and Mayflower set up a project to enhance the employability skills of young people under 18. The vehicle for developing these skills was the creation of a video to promote the Special Olympics Plymouth and District (SOPD). Two PSCA students were part of the Easter 2017 Video Club: Henry Park and Molly Fletcher. They were both a joy to work with and feature in both the videos.

At the Easter Video Club, video training and video creation took place over 5 days, led by Dominick Finan and his colleagues from Viewhear. The training was held at the YMCA, Plymouth. After the initial training, the 9 members of the Video Club took videos and conducted interviews at two Special Olympics Plymouth and District club nights, at the YMCA. This material was combined with video taken off-site to create the promotional video, “Special Olympics Plymouth and District”.

It was important at the Video Club to reflect on the learning, as well as create videos. These reflections were led by the Rotary Club of Plymouth as part of Rotary Skills Aid Plymouth. Young people from the Video Club asked the questions and we are very grateful to Sarah Heittola, for capturing the answers on video, and for Dominick’s help in creating the video about the Easter Video Club, which includes these reflections.
