Friends of PSCA is the Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) for Plymouth Academy of Creative Arts. Our primary focus is fundraising to pay for equipment and experiences to enhance our children’s time at school. We are also working in partnership with the school to build a strong community in and around PACA and we would love it if you would join us.
We have regular meetings and informal ‘Cuppa and Chat’ sessions, at various times and days, to try to give everyone a chance to come along whatever their commitments. Kids are always welcome – we have various games and activities to keep them amused, or they can get involved in the discussions.
New PTFA Chair!
It is a real pleasure to be saying a quick ‘hello’ to everyone as the new Chair of the PTFA. I have huge respect and admiration for everything the PTFA does to support our school and galvanise our community, so I am looking forward to contributing to the valuable and dedicated work of the whole PTFA team.
It is a strange time to be thinking about the work of the PTFA as we begin a Summer term in such unusual and difficult circumstances. Like the rest of the world, our community is facing unprecedented challenges right now. However, it also feels like a really important time to be focused on the various ways in which we can support each other as individuals and as a school, which is of course, at the very heart of the PTFA mission.
Sadly, many of our planned events have had to be postponed or cancelled. But there is good news too! The PTFA is actively looking for fun and inventive ways of keeping our community connected. The Year 6 Dragon’s Den project may be moving online, and there have been live family quizzes hosted on the PTFA Facebook page, with the next Star Wars themed event scheduled for this Saturday 25th April at 6pm. Do get involved if you can, it’s very relaxed and a lot of fun!
As ever, it would be great to hear any and all suggestions on how we can help and support, please be in touch via the usual email address with any ideas you might have. I’ll also drop in a shameless plug for our School Lottery, which is a brilliant way to continue to support our school during these challenging times and potentially win some cash too! Find out more here:
The PTFA has so many exciting plans for life after lockdown, but In the meantime we are here to help in any way we can. Keep in touch, keep talking, stay connected and above all, stay safe.
One last thing, a huge THANK YOU to the whole PACA team who are going above and beyond to support our young people in homeschooling, together with those who still need to be in school. The time and dedication that has gone into readying us all for this new term with the resources and guidance we need is just incredible.
