We have been quiet in the newsletter for a few weeks because we have been so busy on the water!

We are surfing at Bigbury with Discovery Surf School, using the school mini bus to travel up- we have increased our capacity due to demand. The waves are small but perfectly formed, allowing everyone, even the littlest surf dudes to catch some waves. We have a reserve list for Sun 9th and Sun 22nd June, but a few spaces available for Saturday 8th June if anyone is interested- min age 6, must be water confident, and a strong swimmer. There will be more dates in the autumn. Please contact Tors

The barge residential weekend still proves to be a massive success, as a thank you to families who have supported the project and signed up for follow on sessions, offering to volunteer to help the Project etc. Beach cleans, cleaning and maintaining the Barge, preparing dinner, learning rope skills and spending some quality time together as a family.

The taster days are full- having a good at sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding- with an opportunity to do follow on sessions in kayaking or a qualification in sailing afterwards. We ran 2 follow on kayaking sessions in the half term…

Even though the on the water activities are full for our next taster day on 6th July, we have the National Marine Aquarium coming over to do some workshops from 1- 4.30pm at the Mount Batten Centre. If you are hoping to attend these, please email Tors with your interest as I need to give the NMA numbers.

Swimming lessons for beginner swimmers are still continuing on a Sunday evening at the Life Centre. Our next block will be starting in the Autumn, if you cannot swim and want to learn- no max age but min age restriction of 5+ please contact Tors.

Devon Royal Swimming association have invited any Waves Families to contact the about Open Water Swimming for Masters, or strong children swimmers (Stage 8- 10 needed) however for children from 6 years old plus they run Mini Water Polo, at the Life Centre on a Wednesday evening from 6.45- 8pm. They do not have to be strong swimmers, and Swim England are supporting our collaboration with DRSC so please feel free to contact Paul directly if you are interested, Paul Russell gensecdrsa@gmail.com
