PSCA dance teacher, Chris Gilchrist has been nominated for the Teacher of the Year award at this year’s Plymouth Community Honours. The recognition comes for his amazing work in the community with Rhythm City Dance Studio, which is run from the Red House.
Rhythm City reaches, develops and brings about positive change for those hardest to reach within the disadvantaged communities of Plymouth. Their work and training programmes steer young people away from crime, towards education and employment all using the art of Street Dance.
The Plymouth Community Honours mark a precious opportunity to recognise the people who make our city a shining example of compassion, bravery and determination.
This celebration of our everyday heroes was launched in 2013 and for six extraordinary years it has shown time and time again that Plymouth is a place teeming with individuals and groups who deserve a moment in the spotlight.
We are extremely lucky to have such a passionate and committed teacher working with our students and we’ll all be keeping everything crossed for Chris when the winners are announced next month.
