The Making Waves Project had a pool party at Plymouth Life Centre to celebrate the final session of 12 weeks of swimming lessons of our beginner swimmers. With special guest Stormy Stan and some of the crew of Plymouth Lifeboat, the children showed what they had learnt to their supporting families, Life Centre managers who came especially to watch as well as BBC Spotlight and Cllr Rebecca Smith.
The children were all presented with a medal by the Lifeboat Crew for knowing if they ever see any one in trouble in the water to call 999, ask for the Coastguard and not to enter the water themselves. #respect the water. The Life Centre gave them a voucher for family swims. Whilst Stormy Stan gave lots of High 5s.
The families can now sign up for family surfing, sailing, SUP’ping, kayaking and even a Barge Residential weekend. If you are a family living in PL1, PL2 or with Learners at PSCA please contact Tors on firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Many thanks to Sport England and the National Lottery for their support in the Project and John Baldry, RNLI Press Officer for the photos.
