A lovely afternoon with clay
Students in year 3 had a go at creating their own water holding vessels. This was part of a piece of work about the bronze age.
A flotilla of colourful yachts goes bobbing by!
Students from year 3 and 4 have been making boats. Students have been learning about the design process , from paper to product. They have developed new skills in wood work and have combined these with their textiles skills to produce this delightful flotilla of yachts.
Erosion explored
Year 3 take part in an experiment about erosion. They have built their own villages on sand and added water. Whilst creating rapid waves with their hands, they can look and discover how the rocks (sand) will erode. This is a fun and exciting way to explore science. Students film their learning using the studio ipads.
Student receives LAMDA award
Congratulations to year 3 student Jonathan, who has achieved a LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) level one distinction.
Students explore the affect of exercise on their bodies
Stduents within years 3 and 4 looked at the topic of exercise. Using the outline of a figure on paper, students went outside and recorded the effects of different movements on their bodies, from breathlessness, being hot and tired legs etc. They returned to the class and illustrated the figures with the effects that they had recorded.
As you can see the posters varied a lot in detail. Well done year 3 and 4, a great piece of work.
Year 3 students use boats as poetry inspiration
Students within Year 3 wrote pieces of poetry as part of a recent literacy project which encouraged students to take their inspiration from the boat building project happening within design technology here at school.
Year three student India enthusiastically shares her piece of poetry with us.
“I got to use some fantastic wow words when writing this poem.” It’s all about a girl stranded alone on an island. It is written by the girl describing what it’s like all around her” I like to think of her as me”
“The Dark Island”
Vivid green waves
Curled around the island,
Powdery white cliffs
Rose above the sea
The sunset curled
into the distance
The deep blue sea
drew nearer and nearer
It was darkening overhead
All was quiet
Except from the wind
Howling in the cave
