Marine Biology Explored
Students recently visited Plymouth Marine Aquarium and took part in three workshops looking at the STEM subjects of science, technology, engineering and maths as part of the ocean festival. This visit tied in with their studio work which has been focusing on the marine biology of Plymouth Sound.
Year 8 pupils developed a tutorial video about how to use aseptic techniques when working with microorganisms in a lab. The agar plates they prepared were later used for their own investigations into the effect of hand washing on the growth of microorganisms.
Unfortunately we don’t have any follow up plates left as we had to dispose of them safely before the holidays.
