Internationally acclaimed performance ceramicist Kanghyo Lee was making at Mount Edgcumbe as part of the Making Futures Conference. We were incredibly lucky to be invited to join him and make some work alongside. A small group of GCSE Art students from Year 10 spent the afternoon making in clay a piece in response to Kanghyo’s work. Hi work is inspirational and the shear scale of his pots is breathtaking. At the end of his performance the pot is broken up – so students were challenged to make, photograph then destroy their work in the same spirit.
Good opportunity to practice my clay skills.
I was doubting it but have really enjoyed it.
I enjoyed working close to the artist and seeing the scale and the amount of clay he used.
Mesmerising a total unique thing I will never see again.
